Live captions of your voice

Turn on Captions and what you say appears on your stream, through a browser source in OBS or a web page source in TikTok LIVE Studio. Choose the language you speak, the text size, top or bottom, and a dark box behind the words.

TikTalk never captions its own voice, so comments it reads aloud don’t end up on screen. Your TikTok sensitive words are blanked out.

Starting captions

Captions start off each time you open TikTalk, so your microphone never switches itself on. Turn them on from the LIVE page, or a Stream Deck button, or choose to start them whenever you connect to a LIVE.

They pause while you talk to TikTalk by push to talk, so a spoken command never appears as a caption.

Example: turning captions on from the LIVE page.
Captions onCaption settings

Puts what you say on your stream as captions. Needs Chrome or Edge and your microphone allowed.

Translated captions

Comes with Standard with AI and AI with premium voices. Each finished line can also be translated into another language, shown underneath your own words, never instead of them. Your captions never wait for the translation.

Example: captions with a translation underneath.

Also translate into Spanish

  • You say welcome in, everyone
  • Underneath bienvenidos, todos

Alerts on your LIVE page

Every sound alert that plays also gets its own row on your LIVE page: who set it off, the sound and the gift or word that triggered it. Nothing is only heard.

Example: a sound alert shown on your LIVE page as well as played.
  • Priya sent 5 Roses Gift
  • Priya Applause · Rose Alert

Alerts on your stream

Add the visual alerts overlay to OBS and your viewers see each alert too: the gift’s picture, who sent it and the sound. Choose how long each one stays, from 2 to 15 seconds, where it sits and how big it is. Alerts wait their turn, so none is cut short.

Calm overlays

One switch takes the movement out of every overlay: no pulsing, bouncing, flashing or scrolling. Visual alerts and captions only fade in.

Example: the Calm overlays setting.
  • Calm overlays, on

No pulsing, bouncing, flashing or scrolling. Visual alerts and captions only fade.

Questions

Which plan includes captions and visual alerts?
Included in every plan. Translated captions come with Standard with AI and AI with premium voices.
Which browser do captions need?
Chrome or Edge on a computer, with your microphone allowed for TikTalk. Captions use the browser’s own speech recognition, which sends the sound to Google or Microsoft to recognise it.
Do I need headphones?
We recommend them. To keep comments read aloud off your captions, TikTalk drops anything heard while it is talking or playing a sound. Without headphones, captions miss what you say over TikTalk.
Are my guests captioned?
No. Captions are of your microphone, so they are your own words.
Do viewers need anything?
No. Captions and alerts are part of your stream’s picture, so every viewer sees them in the TikTok app.
